Alberto Festa

Introduction
Co-founder of Sprintrade. After working for a number of years as a full-time professional affiliate, I decided to use all my experience and knowledge to create the sprintrade affiliate network. Sprintrade is based on the concept of affiliation centred on affiliates. I regard affiliates as the central core, the heart of this kind of online advertising. They are the ones who work on the advertising campaign and every day think up new good ideas to promote our customers’ advertising campaigns in the best way.
The Affiliates – and not the Network or the Merchants - are the only essential subjects that affiliation marketing needs. Absurdly, Sprintrade could offer all the advertising campaigns in the world and Merchants the best commissions on the web, but without affiliates promoting the advertising campaign there would never be any user interested in buying the merchant’s products.
This is why, every day, I strive to provide affiliates with best assistance and the most adequate tools to help them promote our advertising campaigns.

Essentials according to Alberto

  • Put yourself in the user’s shoes, try to understand what he/she is looking for and create a tailor-made page with all the information he/she needs to guide him/her to buying a product/registering.
  • Use powerful statistics software enabling you to know when people are coming, where they are coming from, which keywords they use, what they clicked on before leaving the site.
  • Use banners and images as little as possible. Images do not help users focus on the message the webmaster wants to convey. Always ask yourself what you wish to obtain from this web page. Depending on the answer to that question, focus the message on your aim.
  • The affiliate’s links should be highlighted compared to normal text and should be in key positions, so that users notice them as soon as the page is displayed. The ‘hot spot’ map is perfect to understand which areas a user looks at when a page is displayed.
  • Try  not to make the user scroll down to find information. The page must be short and the message obvious immediately. Always remember we have 3 seconds to persuade visitors they have found what they are looking for.  In these 3 seconds we must convey the first and most important message – make them feel that, after searching for so long, they have finally found what they are looking for.

Paolo Moro

Introduction
Paolo Moro, founder and administrator of the www.alVerde.net forum, has been dealing with  Affiliate Marketing for the past eight years with great enthusiasm. He collaborates with important affiliation networks and is the author of a blog he uses to share his experience, general knowledge and knowledge related to SEO, Web Marketing and Web Advertising. He is also the Web Marketing Manager for a web project (ASPCodeCMS.com) aimed at developing and selling a CMS software.

Essentials according to Paolo

  • Highlight a problem and show how the advertised product/service would solve it.  Example: “Unable to see the local derby on Sundays? Download web mediaplayer and tune in on channel 123”.
  • Insert banners only in pages related to the product/service advertised in those pages. In this way, the page attracts traffic and the banner converts.
  • Apply points 1 and 2 using normal text links which prompt action.
  • Create one or more web pages (or even a website/blog) with contents chosen to attract visitors likely to be interested in the advertised product/service.
  • Learn as much as possible on SEO, Copywriting, Email Marketing and Web Marketing in general.
Valerio Novelli

Introduction
He entered the sector of blogging three years ago and immediately became interested in making money online. After a number of studies and analyses he decided to create a true landmark for making money online in Italy: he created the www.monetizzando.com website.
He is currently one of Sprintrade’s affiliate managers and has launched the www.nerverland.com project.

Essentials according to Valerio

  • Learn to consider users as people and not tools for making money. Proposing an advertising campaign must be regarded as an additional service which provides more information.
  • Banner blindness is a well-known phenomenon. However, it ‘develops’ only if banners are always in the same place. An attractive banner in an article, in a good context, is always seen by the user. Learning to use banners in an intelligent way can make a difference.
  • Learn to use the very useful dedicated pages. For people using wordpress, creating a page and inserting the “dedicated page” (excuse the play on words) is quite simple and can be a successful strategy, resulting in higher conversion.
  • Avoid inserting hundreds of advertising campaigns in the same page because they have low conversion and confuse browsers, who leave the site.

Order advertising campaigns according to the written articles and create a mini-archive with ready-to-implement codes (instead of retrieving them every time).

Vincenzo Romano

Introduction
Vincenzo Romano, the founder and administrator of the www.studioconsulenzaromano.net blog, has a degree in Economy and Commerce and is a chartered accountant. He has enthusiastically been dealing with online marketing for five years. He develops ideas for online business and is an expert of blogs on the Wordpress platform (he deals with SEO level positioning and the integration with specific plugins according to the blogger's needs). He became a Sprintrade Affiliate Manager in April 2008 and is the creator and developer of the www.tuaopinione.com project.

Essentials according to Vincenzo

  • Promote campaigns in the homogenous groups, organising them according to the conversion in the created landing page.
  • Create links to the web pages mentioned above directly from the home page and in clearly visible positions, e.g. create the “Paid Surveys” page (containing all the pages of that category) and insert a link to the home page in the top right corner.
  • If you have a blog, add an advertising campaign related to the blog’s general topics as a post layout.
  • Use links that can be customised and allow to head for a specific product/service, providing a short, clear review that prompts action.
  • Use clearly highlighted text links at the beginning and the end of the review.
  • If you have a newsletter, use the ready-made DEMs with some customised integrations and send them off as individual letters.
  • If you have a forum, use the signature for advertisements or increase the visits to landing pages with high-conversion campaigns.
  • Write short, clear articles referring to the topic of your blog/website.
Simone Ruscetta

Introduction
Just leave me my MacBook and the web!
I love all means of communication, from radio communication to the web. Give me a website and I will do everything to promote it and bring in money.
My brother dario and I manage a small web agency (24media) in Modena. www.Modena24.net and www.Gratis-Mania.com are but two of our websites and we are working on creating others. Will we ever be able to finish them?

Essentials according to Simone

  • I believe coherence between the advertising campaigns and the site’s contents is essential. An advertising campaign for food products is unlikely to be successful on a “make money online” page (the opposite is true as well).
  • Don’t raise your voice. There are advertisements everywhere, loud, unpleasant and invasive advertisements…  A good article with “advice” in it is worth thousands of banner impressions.
  • Don’t saturate browsers. I have seen hundreds of pages overcrowded with banners. I believe they give most surfers headaches… Put yourselves in their shoes!
  • Use your imagination and go beyond a plain banner. Create new text links suitable for your blog/website.
  • Keep in touch with your AM to make the best of your campaigns and results, to plan activities and exchange opinions.
  • Be patient: it takes time and effort to achieve results. Learn from your mistakes and try again!
  • Keep “tuned”: there are lots of new advertising campaigns and some come to an end. If you keep up to date you won't miss opportunities or impressions by staying on terminated campaigns!
